  1. Western discovery will allow the spread of English Protestantism
  2. The Spanish have been harassing our sailor & forcing them to renounce Protestantism in favor of Catholicism
  3. Exploration & colonization will give us access to all commodities of Europe, Africa & Asia to make us richer
  4. This will give unemployed men jobs & a purpose in support of the realm
  5. It will hinder the Spanish who’ve been making far too much progress in colonization
  6. The Spanish have been getting rich & using that money to threaten & harass us
  7. When Philip (Spanish King) suffers defeats, it benefits his rivals & adversaries
  8. The Spanish have been converting the natives, spreading Catholicism
  9. The Spanish have been moving northward in exploring & establishing colonies
  10. The Spanish have set up forts in Mexico & the area
  11. The Spanish have terrorized those who have become friendly to the English
  12. Our push for exploration & colonization doesn’t make us any poorer but allows us safe haves for our purposes
  13. The queen will make a lot of money off establishing colonies & taxing them
  14. This will strengthen our navy, especially the shipping trade
  15. If we establish them quickly, we’ll take a few places off the available list to other countries
  16. This will help our industries grow & thrive
  17. We might actually find a passage to China that we’ve always heard about
  18. The queen has a much right to any open lands north of Florida as any other ruler
  19. The Pope is a Spaniard giving all sorts of special privileges to the Spanish
  20. We ought to act no for our own sake
  21. We ought to learn more about what makes for a successful voyage
