  • The doctrine of persecution for the cause of conscience is awful because it’s blasphemy against because he made us of one blood & now we’re all at war because our religions
    • It’s a tenent against Jesus Christ that will stop him from delivering us to the promised land, to save us through meek & peaceful invitations
    • It goes against his wisdom, faithfulness & love by giving government officers religious powers – sheds bloods of 100s of 1000s of innocents in claiming to suppress blasphemies, heresies, etc.
    • It fights against good spirits & fuels bad spirits
    • Against all the saints who suffered in the past
    • It cuts out the hearts & souls of the blessed
  • It’s worse than all the sins combined because it puts out the eye of true faith
    • It hardens all false & deluded consciences through cruelty & violence
    • It shuts out prophecies & promises of Jesus Christ & forbids them to be read in English or to have a trial or search of them – only to be read by the clergy
    • It removes all civility, removes all civil strength & power, & the whole of Europe is in flames with kings, princes & emperors at each other’s throats
    • It stunts growth & flourishing of the best countries & causes man of their best to flee
    • It makes religion a political weapon of Machiavellian princes & priests
